Rick Clemens, the founder and Director of Inclusive Education and Community Partnership, began working with individuals with Autism and other developmental disabilities in 1985. In 1991 Rick was the first teacher to fully include a student with moderate-severe disabilities in Ventura County. Rick became known in Ventura County as an expert in the field of Inclusion, Behavior and Socialization and was asked to consult with varying school districts on successful inclusion and behavioral practices. During this period Rick was an invited speaker to many conferences and trainings throughout California. Eventually the demand for Rick’s services exceeded his availability and the need to hire additional staff was evident. Hence IECP was formed. In 2002, based on a request by LAUSD, IECP received their Non-Public Agency (NPA) certification to provide behavior Intervention Services and also became vendored with two different Regional Centers. IECP was created to meet a need and continues to operate from a service model as opposed to a business model.
IECP currently provides services throughout the state of California meeting the needs of children with autism and other developmental disabilities in both schools and in other natural environments through Regional Center funding. Rick and his staff (who are hired based on knowledge, experience, commitment and passion) are deeply committed to including individuals with disabilities into all aspects of society and assuring true and full access to life’s experiences. Rick and his staff have worked with thousands of children, their families, teachers, and friends in developing quality inclusive, behavior and social programs.
As the demand for IECPs services has grown, IECP has stayed committed to providing quality services in inclusive settings and meeting the needs of children, families, school districts and regional centers.
